This lockdown experience has been very different from ordinary life. In fact it has been quite a challenging few months for everyone. Catching up with friends on zoom, using google classrooms instead of physically going to school, not going to the mosque for Friday prayers and so on. At first, I thought we were just going to stay at home for a few days, but when I watched the news and heard the pm make announcements, I knew that this was going to be something which would last much longer.

One of the biggest highlights for me throughout these months was definitely Ramadan. This year it felt so special and unique that I can’t describe it in words. Waking up in the morning to read Tahajudd prayer and then reading Taravee prayers at night with my whole family. My mum and I prepared meals every day for Iftar and sometimes my brother and I would bake cakes.

Despite all the difficulties we went through in lockdown, as an Ahmadi Muslim, I am very blessed and fortunate to be part of an amazing Jamaat, which has supported us so much; online classes and meetings have provided the opportunity for social interaction which I especially was missing very much.
