SUPPLIES:

  • Double-sided decorative cardstock
  • scrapbook paper cut into 8″ x 2″ pieces
  • Yarn (use thinner weight yarn)
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch (use a small 1/8″ circle hole punch)
  • Laminator (optional)

PROCEDURE:

  1. Start by wrapping yarn around your four fingers, but not too tight. You want to make sure you have room to tie the tassel knot at the top. When you have your desired weight or bulk of yarn for your tassel, cut off the end leaving about 8 inches hanging down.
  2. Then take the end and wound it between your index and middle fingers a couple times and pull. Create a knot here and carefully released yarn from your bottom three fingers.

      3.  Then with your scissors, cut the bottom                                yarn loop creating a nice fringe for your                                  homemade tassel.

      4.  Finally, secure another piece of yarn (about 9″                    long and folded in half) by sliding it through                        the top loops and stringing the cut ends                                through the folded end and pulling tight                              creating a knot at the top. Voila! You now                              have a pretty tassel.

       5. Then it’s just a matter of attaching it to your                        pretty paper. Punch a hole at the top and                              secured with a knot at the top, trimming off                        any excess yarn.
